Terms
These terms are for everyone who reads, shares or reports a moment on Gentle Moments. Dilli House's other websites have their own. How we handle information is on the Privacy page.
In brief
- Gentle Moments is free and sells nothing.
- A person reads every moment before it appears.
- Your words stay yours. You let Dilli House publish them here, in its letters, and in its printed guide and its later editions, never with your name.
- Anyone can report a moment. Questions and complaints: hello@dilli.house.
- If anything here is hard to follow, ask an adult you trust to help.
Who runs this site
Gentle Moments is run by Dilli House Ltd, registered in England and Wales (company number 15899845, VAT number GB473862655), registered office 5–7 Buck Street, Camden Collective, London NW1 8NJ. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean Dilli House Ltd.
Arpit Kaushik, Director, is responsible for the site's safety, reports and complaints. Write to him at hello@dilli.house.
Sharing a moment
Anyone may read. Children under 13 should read with a parent or carer. To share a moment, you need to be 13 or over. We do not check ages. We decline a moment that seems to come from someone under 13. If we learn that one did, we take it down and delete it.
When you tick the box on Share, or agree to the same words when you give us a moment yourself, you confirm that the moment is yours, that you took any photograph, and that it shows no one's face. Please also make sure that nothing in it identifies anyone else, and that it follows the house rules below.
Your words and photograph stay yours, to share anywhere you like. When you agree, you let Dilli House publish your moment, with any photograph, on this site, in the letters Dilli House sends to its readers, and in its printed Gentle Moments guide and its later editions. Dilli House pays nothing for this and never shows your name. We will not use your moment anywhere else. Once published, it can be found through search engines, and its first words and any photograph show in link previews.
Arpit may correct spelling, trim a moment to fit, leave out or make general anything that could identify someone (a café, not its name; a Sunday, not a date), or leave out its photograph. He will never change what it means.
Not every moment is chosen. If you shared it on the site, we do not know who you are, so we cannot tell you why. A declined moment is deleted straight away. One still waiting after 60 days is deleted too. The only exception is anything the law requires us to keep and report. We may take a published moment down at any time.
To take your own moment down, press Report on it and say it is yours. For one still waiting, write to us with its words. A moment taken down is left out of any later printing or letter. Copies of the guide already printed, and letters already sent, cannot be called back.
House rules
- No recognisable faces.
- No full names, addresses, or anything else that could identify someone.
- Keep times and places general: a café, not its name; a Sunday, not a date.
- Nothing commercial: no products, no brands, no links.
- Nothing that could hurt anyone.
Send nothing illegal, nothing by machine or in bulk, and no false reports.
What is not allowed
None of these is allowed on Gentle Moments, for anyone of any age. Please do not send them. Arpit reads every moment and photograph before it appears.
Each of these is declined, and taken down at once if it is ever found on the site:
- Terrorism.
- Pornography.
- Anything that encourages suicide, or shows how.
- Anything that encourages self-harm, or shows how.
- Anything that encourages an eating disorder, or shows how.
- Anything that makes hopelessness or despair seem appealing. Sad moments are welcome.
- Anything that shames people for their body or their looks.
- Abuse of people because of their race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, disability or gender reassignment.
- Anything that stirs up hatred of people for those reasons.
- Bullying.
- Anything that encourages serious violence, or shows how.
- Real or realistic serious violence or injury to people.
- Real or realistic serious violence to animals, or to made-up creatures.
- Encouragement to take harmful substances.
- Dangerous stunts or challenges.
Child sexual abuse or exploitation material is declined, reported to the National Crime Agency, and kept only as the law requires. If it is ever found on the site, it is taken down at once and reported.
Other illegal content is declined too, such as threats, harassment, fraud, or intimate images shared without consent. If anyone reports it or we find it, it is taken down quickly (see Reporting a moment and Intimate images, below).
No automated tools judge what a moment or report says. Simple checks keep out spam sent by machines. A moment that looks machine-sent is not kept, though its sender still sees the usual thank-you.
Reporting a moment
You can report a moment whether or not you have shared one. A parent, carer or helper can report for someone else. Press Report at the foot of the moment. A note is optional; add anything that helps. You can send a few reports an hour. To report more, write to hello@dilli.house.
Usually the moment comes off the site at once. Arpit looks at it within seven days, then puts it back, or removes and deletes it.
On an unusually busy day, a report may be recorded without taking its moment down. The moment then stays up. Arpit reads the report within seven days. He takes the moment down if it breaks these terms, or if it is yours and you ask. If it cannot wait, write to hello@dilli.house, and we will act within two days.
Reports are anonymous, so we cannot tell you the outcome. For a reply, write to hello@dilli.house.
Intimate images
If a photograph shows you, Report is the fastest way to take its moment down. To make a formal report of an intimate image of you shared without consent, write to hello@dilli.house with:
- the moment's web address, or its words, so we can find it;
- a statement that it is an intimate image of you, or of someone you act for, shared without consent;
- a statement that you make the report in good faith, and that it is true to the best of your knowledge and belief;
- how to contact you.
We will take it down, with any copy we find, as soon as we can and within 48 hours. The only exceptions are if we find it is not such an image, or that the report is not from the person shown or someone acting for them.
If you are unhappy with the result, reply to the same email. We deal with these complaints first, within 48 hours.
Complaints and appeals
You can complain to us about:
- a moment you think is illegal or harmful to children;
- your own moment being declined or taken down;
- the site not keeping people safe, not handling reports well, or not respecting freedom of expression or privacy.
For a moment you think is illegal or harmful, press Report first. That usually takes it off the site at once. Then, or for anything else, write to hello@dilli.house with any details that help. Arpit Kaushik reads every report and complaint. He looks at a moment you have emailed us about within two days, and replies to every complaint within 14 days. If we got something wrong, we put it right: a moment goes back up or comes down, or we change how the site works.
If your moment was declined or taken down and you think that was a mistake, write to us with its words or its web address. Arpit treats this as a complaint, and replies within 14 days. A moment taken down by a report goes back up if it should not have come down. A declined or removed moment has already been deleted, so it cannot be put back. If Arpit agrees it was a mistake, he will tell you, and you are welcome to share it again.
Ofcom, the UK's online safety regulator, does not settle individual complaints. If you are still worried after writing to us, you can tell Ofcom at ofcom.org.uk.
Other terms
Gentle Moments is free and offered as it is. It may sometimes be unavailable, and it may change or close. If it closes, its moments and photographs are deleted, and the log and the reports are kept as our record under the Online Safety Act. The printed guide is not affected.
We are not responsible for losses we could not reasonably have foreseen. Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts, and you keep the protections of your local law.
We may update these terms when the law or the site changes. We will show significant changes here 14 days before they apply, unless the law requires a change sooner. If you do not agree with a change, you can stop using the site and have your moment taken down. No change will let us use a moment already shared in a new way without its writer's agreement. A moment shared before letters were named in the tick, on 2 November 2026, goes in a letter only if its writer agrees again.
